Digital Photography and Image Editing
Description
The Digital Photography and Image Editing course aims to develop confidence and skills in photography. Individuals will be able to meet like-minded people, share expertise and knowledge of the subject.
A short optional homework assignment can be completed each week and responses can be reviewed at the next session as a way of obtaining feedback and encouragement. Upon completion of this course, you will have a range of traditional and experimental images
suitable for conventional printing or online viewing via digital portfolios or social media.
The opportunity to partake in studio and darkroom work is available upon request.
Course Duration
1 evening per week over 8 weeks.
Location
Newtown College.
Method of Assessment
Technical and creative skills are reviewed by the tutor, but no formal assessment is required.
Who Should Attend?
This course is primarily aimed at those new to photography and may also be suitable for individuals who would like to refresh or upskill their current level of ability or learn how to use their camera more effectively.
Entry Requirements
Having a camera is helpful to develop skills outside of the classroom, but not essential. Cameras are available to be used by the participants during the course.
Course Content
This course covers the following topics:
- Exposure control including f-stop, shutter speed, ISO & depth of field
- Adobe Photoshop techniques
- Photography techniques including lighting, law of thirds & intentional camera shake

College certificate of attendance.
