Advanced Plastering

Description
This course aims to build on the skills taught through the 101 and Intermediate courses. Delegates will be left to their own devices to analyse the advanced bay and work towards dry-lining and skimming as required to a professional finish. The advanced bay represents a more much larger realistic sized room and obstacles seen in real life.
 
A tutor will always be present for safety guidance, encouragement and any help needed but working alone and problem solving is encouraged.

Entry Requirements
Delegates must have one or all of the below:
  • Completed the Intermediate Plastering course
  • Completed the Intermediate Plastering+ course
  • Have sufficient on the job experience and require further/continued practice
 
Delegates are required to have a certain level of strength and fitness as dry-lining and plastering demands. E.g. to be able to work as a team of at least two to handle a bag of plaster to be able to mix it, lift plaster boards sometimes above their head and work for approximately 2 hours straight with limited breaks/downtime.
 
Who Should Attend?
This course is ideal for delegates who have completed basic training in plastering 101, and any of the intermediate courses, who would like the opportunity to further their competence and confidence to enter the workplace. On completion of this course you will be well informed and have the practical skills to go on to start a career in plastering.

Course Content
This course covers:
  • Mixing their own plaster and adhesives 
  • Repairing stud walls and ceilings
  • Dot and Dabbing bigger block walls
  • Skimming plaster board walls and ceiling
  • Skimming over existing plaster 
  • Skimming around larger windows, sky lights, imitation fire breast, alcoves and a large 4m x 2.4m wall

Required Equipment
Delegates are required to wear work wear, ideally overalls and suitable work boots, all other PPE and tools will be provided by CSW. Delegates will also need to bring a packed lunch, a 30 minute lunch break will be given.
