Plastering & Dry-Lining 101

Description
This short intensive course is designed to provide an introduction to the skills and techniques required for plastering and dry-lining. The course is delivered using a practical approach in professional workshops under the direction of qualified and experienced plastering experts.
 
Progression Opportunities
Successful delegates will gain the opportunity to progress onto the Intermediate, intermediate+ and Advanced Plastering courses.
 
On successful completion of this course, delegates will receive a discount on purchasing Makita power tools from Data Power tools in Cardiff or Swansea. They will also receive a discount voucher for Marshall Town tools SB Tools online.

Entry Requirements
Delegates are required to have a certain level of strength and fitness as drylining and plastering demands. E.g. to be able to work as a team of at least two to handle a bag of plaster to be able to mix it, lift plaster boards sometimes above their head and work for approximately 2 hours straight with limited breaks/downtime.

This course is ideal for newcomers to plastering or dry-lining such as school leavers, those looking to change careers, or those looking to develop a new skill.

Course Content
This course covers:
  • Health and safety 
  • Removing old plaster boards from walls and ceilings and loading a skip safely 
  • Assessing and preparing stud partitions to be dry-lined  
  • Dry-line the walls ceiling boxing and window
  • Dot and dab a block wall
  • Adhesives and bonding agents 
  • Skrim tape and bead work
  • Mixing plaster
  • Repairing stud walls and ceilings
  • Skimming plaster board walls and ceiling
  • Skimming over existing plaster 
  • Skimming around obstacles

Required Equipment
Delegates are required to wear work wear, ideally overalls and suitable work boots, all other PPE and tools will be provided by CSW. Delegates will also need to bring a packed lunch, a 30 minute lunch break will be given.
